CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health course will enable you to provide services to people with coexisting mental health dependencies and work with clients in the specialised area of domestic and family violence. Throughout your studies you will learn the importance on providing community focused mental health programs and prevention strategies while working within the frameworks of trauma-informed care.
You will also learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems, and how to provide help and support in a crisis situation utilising specialist referral networks. This work will enable you to provide a recovery oriented approach when working with a variety of health and community service professionals. With this qualification you can support, counsel, refer and advocate positive outcomes for individual clients and communities suffering from complex mental health issues.

Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker
The Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker plays an integral role in the delivery of services mental health services across the local community. This role is responsible for mental health intakes, assessment and triage of the required services for individuals who are experiencing mental health issues and who are seeking support.
Case Manager
Case Managers are responsible for assisting clients to solve complex issues with the aim of enhancing their clients’ quality of life. This role requires the overseeing and coordinating of the long term treatment needs that addresses the specific and personalised needs of a client.
Mental Health Support Worker
Mental Health Support Workers work with people who are living with mental illness, their families, carers and friends. This involves day-to-day support to help clients meet their individual goals, assisting them to navigate other health services and monitoring their progress. Mental Health Support Workers may work with groups and conduct outreach assistance that enables management of daily activities and connection with the local community. You will provide

Online Course Delivery

The Diploma of Mental Health course includes optional live sessions over Zoom where students can interact with their trainer and peers, have their questions answered, and receive additional support with their studies. Participation in these sessions is not mandatory.
Weekend Workshops
Virtual workshops will be held throughout the course to provide practical application of your skills and knowledge.
Students will be provided with information regarding available tutorial sessions and weekend workshops throughout their studies.
A variety of assessment methods will be utilised to assess the student’s competency in each unit of this qualification. Each unit of competency will be assessed using any 3 of the following 5 assessment methods:

Question and answer responses that require independent research.
Case Studies
Case studies are analyses of persons, events, decisions, periods, projects, policies, organisations, or other systems that are studied holistically by one or more methods.
Reflection
A reflective assessment enables the student to become more self-aware of themselves and those around them. It improves the students’ knowledge and understanding of a topic while enhancing workplace practices.
Roleplay
Roleplay assessment through direct, indirect observation by the trainer/assessor in a simulated workplace environment.
Work Placement
The host employer is required to sign off on workplace competency utilising the provided Third Party Reports.
