Pre-Enrolment Information (International Students)
At the ACCLM we have a rigorous pre-enrolment process to ensure that you meet all required enrolment and/or eligibility criteria before you are able to formally enrol in any of our accredited courses. This ensures that you don’t have to make significant commitments of money or time before you find out whether you’re enrolment can be accepted.
The paragraphs below will provide details of the main pre-enrolment processes and checks that we carry out to ensure that your application meets our obligations under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
1. ACCLM Pre-Enrolment Handbook
As a first step you should read through the ACCLM International Prospectus to familiarise yourself with our philosophy, policies and requirements, to assess whether we are the right RTO for you. The Handbook will provide more detail on how we run our courses and the commitment required by you.
2. Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills
It is a requirement to assess your language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills before enrolment to ensure that you are at a level that will enable you complete the course without any difficulties. We use an online assessment tool for this purpose, which you can access at https://tlrg.com.au/pages/online-lln-quiz.
When prompted you should enter your name and email address and use firstname.lastname@example.org as the trainer email address, so that a copy of your results are automatically sent to us on completion. Please note there is a small fee to complete this quiz.
3. Identity Verification
Before you can enrol in an accredited qualification we must confirm your identity. You will need to scan and email us copies of photographic identification documents, such as a passport or driver’s licence, which have been certified as true copies of the original document by a person authorised to sign Statutory Declarations, such as a Registered Nurse or Justice of the Peace.
In addition, if you believe that you may be eligible to receive subsidised or funded training, we may need to request further documents to verify details such as your citizenship status and residential address.
Unique Student Identifier (USI). Every student studying an accredited course in Australia must now have a valid USI. If you don’t already have one you will need to apply for one, or we can use your identification documents to create one for you.
4. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and/or Credit Transfer
What is recognition? Recognition including recognition of prior learning (RPL), is a process for giving candidates credit for skills, knowledge and experience gained through working and learning. It can be gained at any stage of your life, through formal and informal learning, in Australia or overseas, through work or other activities such as volunteering.
Please contact us to discuss your situation or for more information about whether you may be able to gain recognition for your current learning and skills.
You will also find a lot of useful information about RPL on the websites below:
Credit Transfer. If you’ve previously completed accredited study in an aged care related competency or course, then you may be eligible for a credit transfer.
5. Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) number is a unique number that is allocated to anyone studying nationally recognised Vocational Educational Training (VET) in Australia. As of 1 January 2015, the Australian Government introduced the USI initiative, which allows students to access all of their training records and results from one online location.
Further information about the USI can be found in the Pre-Enrolment Handbook. If you already have a USI then please let us know, otherwise you will be prompted to create one during enrolment.
6. Computer Requirements
As this is an online course you will need to ensure that you have access to a reasonable standard computer and a reliable internet connection.
You will also need access to word processing software such as Microsoft Word. If you don’t have any we recommend that you download LibreOffice which is a free program that will provide all of the functionality you need.
