About the Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)

Case management is a collaborative process designed to help an individual client to achieve a specified goal in wellness and re-ablement through supported care.

To be a successful Case Manager you need the skills in counselling of clients to coordinate services, communicate with stakeholders, manage risk, follow occupational health and safety requirements, and many other matters specific to the case management processes.

This course focusses on the case management of aged and community care clients, under Consumer Directed Care (CDC), NDIS, DSS and Mental Health Programs. It provides generalised leadership and management skills suitable for employment into any organisation that delivers care and case management.

This course is delivered primarily online and a sound level of computer literacy is recommended.

Online delivery provides you with maximum flexibility, allowing you to study anywhere and anytime.

As all training materials and assessments are delivered online, you must have access to a good computer with internet access.

Workshops

Live workshops form a vital part of the assessment and practical learning process for this course, providing students with face-to-face training in essential skills.

For the Diploma of Community Services, you must attend two specified one-day workshops during the course:

  • Workshop 1 – Case Management
  • Workshop 2 – Improving Professional Skills Through Reflective Practice

Workshops are held several times a year in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Students will be provided with available options via their Training Plan, issued upon enrolment.

In 2015 while completing my Year 12 I also decided to do a Diploma of Management to hopefully increase my chances of getting into the Uni and course I wanted. I found the online learning component really easy to use and suited my study pattern. I enjoyed the easy access to online resources and the assessments as they were tailored to healthcare which gave me insight into Nursing which is what I was applying to University for in 2016. When I needed help I was able to call or email the College and I always had someone contact me back within 24 hours to book a time that suited my schedule to go over my issue. I was able to do some short online courses as part of my study which were great and gave me printable Certificates which I have put in my CV and helped me with my part time job interview. I finished my Diploma and learnt heaps along the way. I also got the Uni I wanted and am studying Nursing. Very Happy!

I studied my Certificate III over twelve months online. I had no previous experience in HealthCare so I was a bit worried how I would go. I spoke to Student Services nearly every week and the lady reassured me I was on track. The trainer would call me and go through areas I was stuck on and guide me. I really liked the short courses. There was quizzes and really cool pictures which taught me about the subject I was studying. I like that I could study at my own pace.
