About the Certificate IV Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments.

Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisational guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

This course will prepare you for work as a support worker with specialised duties in residential aged care or for a home care provider. This level is the step after the entry level qualification and is generally for people who hold a Certificate III qualification or those with sufficient experience in the industry.

People working at this level may have supervisory duties and be responsible for the performance of other team members.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement.
If you are currently employed or engaged in other commitments, our flexible delivery offers no barrier to study. Structure your learning around your current work life commitments and take a step into a healthcare career.

Testimonials

I just want to say a big thank you for all the support you guys gave me. At this stage in my life I never thought I would be able to take up study again let alone pass my course and receive a Certificate. Achieving the result has boosted my confidence and as a mum about to enter back into the workforce I feel I have learnt heaps of an area I was truly scared to approach. With the learning modules set in blocks so I could do my practical placement along the way gave me experience and also I was able to practice what I had learnt. I thank ACCLM and all the staff who talked me through my issues along the way. You were all truly amazing! THANK-YOU

In 2015 while completing my Year 12 I also decided to do a Diploma of Management to hopefully increase my chances of getting into the Uni and course I wanted. I found the online learning component really easy to use and suited my study pattern. I enjoyed the easy access to online resources and the assessments as they were tailored to healthcare which gave me insight into Nursing which is what I was applying to University for in 2016. When I needed help I was able to call or email the College and I always had someone contact me back within 24 hours to book a time that suited my schedule to go over my issue. I was able to do some short online courses as part of my study which were great and gave me printable Certificates which I have put in my CV and helped me with my part time job interview. I finished my Diploma and learnt heaps along the way. I also got the Uni I wanted and am studying Nursing. Very Happy!

I decided to do the next level of Certificate so I could increase my chances of a higher paid position within the healthcare sector. I have grown as a person and have learnt some lifelong lessons along the way. I enjoyed the learning experience immensely. ACCLM is the best RTO that I have had the pleasure of learning from. I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to further their education.

I studied my Certificate III over twelve months online. I had no previous experience in HealthCare so I was a bit worried how I would go. I spoke to Student Services nearly every week and the lady reassured me I was on track. The trainer would call me and go through areas I was stuck on and guide me. I really liked the short courses. There was quizzes and really cool pictures which taught me about the subject I was studying. I like that I could study at my own pace. I ended up getting a job at the aged care facility I did my placement at and love the residents.
